About Lee Jukes
We announced in August 2015 that our 1st Honorary Patron would be Lee Jukes of Bridge FM and Swansea Bay Radio.
We welcome Lee to Bridgend's Hospital Radio family where one of our two newly renovated Studios will be named after Lee, who has achieved so much within the Radio Industry as well as his Charity Work.
Lee is very proud of his Bridgend roots.
Born in South Wales, Lee moved with his family to Hampshire at a young age. He spent his formative years in Basingstoke. So far, he’s led a pretty varied life.
Lee left school at 16 with just his GCSE’s and he got his first job as a silver service waiter at his local Hilton Hotel. He then worked as an administrator for a company that made bricks but he always felt that he was destined for more than bricks.
At school, Lee rose to the rank of Corporal in the Army Cadets but had always wanted to join the Royal Navy and at the tender age of 17 that’s what he did! After his naval days, he embarked on a career in accountancy while studying for his professional qualifications he worked for a paper merchant company in Hampshire.
From a young age, he had always been interested in music and entertaining. He decided that he wanted to become a DJ in his spare time. He bought a DJ set up and worked at birthday parties and weddings, initially worked at pubs and social clubs across Hampshire.
In 2001 his family relocated back to South Wales and Lee followed a few months later continuing to work in accounts at a few companies across South Wales.
Lee soon made a name for himself on the DJ circuit in South Wales and in 2004 he started working for a local radio station, Bridge FM as a promo guy. He attended events helping to promote the radio station. Later 2004 he tried out as a producer and produced the Saturday afternoon show. In 2005, Lee started presenting radio shows and has hosted every show on the Bridge FM schedule since. Lee hosts a networked show across all of the Nation Broadcasting Group’s local stations every weekday afternoon across South and West Wales. You can hear Lee on Bridge FM, Swansea Bay Radio, Radio Carmarthenshire, Radio Pembrokeshire, Radio Ceredigion every afternoon between 3pm and 7pm. Also across the whole of Wales on the brand new digital DAB station, Dragon Radio weekdays from 1pm.
